How submissions are handled, and what we do and do not check.
How is a submission checked before it is published?
By hand, against the manufacturer datasheet and the documentation for the integration it targets — ZHA, Zigbee2MQTT, Z-Wave JS, ESPHome or Matter. Protocol, verdict and setup complexity are normalised into the same vocabulary the rest of the index uses, and a validator runs on every build that rejects invented spec values and unknown verdicts. ESPHome configurations are compiled by ESPHome itself before they ship.
What details make a device submission high quality?
Exact hardware model numbers, main chipset identifiers (e.g. ESP32-S3, EFR32MG24, CC2652P), the integration stack you used (ZHA, Zigbee2MQTT, ESPHome), a link to the manufacturer datasheet, and any cluster quirks or YAML configuration needed to get entities to appear.
Do you bench test hardware before publishing an entry?
No. There is no lab and no test bench. Entries are compiled from published documentation and community reports, which is why a field is left empty rather than filled in when no source states it, and why corrections from people running the hardware are the most valuable submissions we get.
How long does it take for a requested device to get published?
There is no fixed turnaround. Submissions are reviewed by hand, and one that arrives with a datasheet link and the integration version you tested against moves considerably faster than one without.
